Vantage Advanced Developer Exam

IMPORTANT NOTE: This exam is NO LONGER available after December 31, 2022!

Covers the features and functionality of the Advanced SQL Engine through release 16.20.

This exam establishes that the candidate has the knowledge and skills necessary to; identify optimal archive and restore strategies, analyze system resource trends to plan for future requirements, identify optimal database and table design, translate logical data model to physical data model, administer and setup Viewpoint, identify and use collected data to isolate and resolve performance issues, identify the benefits of advanced security configurations, use the advanced space management features, create user definitions to meet advanced data access requirements, troubleshoot performance and system issues, design and implement workload management. To register for the Advanced Developer Exam

To register for the  Advanced Developer  Exam, visit home.pearsonvue.com/teradata and select exam: TDBL 5:16.20 Advanced Developer Exam.

Candidates are able to register and take the Advanced Developer Exam either in a Pearson Vue test center or remotely, at their home or office. FAQs and additional information on this option are available.  

Already Certified in Teradata 14?

Candidates who hold Teradata 14 Technical Specialist, Solutions Developer, Enterprise Architect, Database Administrator, and Master certifications can bypass the Associate and Developer Exam to take the next track progression exam—Advanced Developer.

There is no bypass for the Advanced Developer Exam.

RECOMMENDED EXPERIENCE
It is recommended that candidates have 2-3 years of Advanced SQL Engine experience.

PREREQUISITES
Passing the Associate and Developer Exams are prerequisites for testing when the Advanced Developer exam. All requirements must be met for a certification to be awarded. 

RECERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
There is NO expiration for this certification.

CREDENTIALS
Successful completion of this exam will earn you a Vantage Advanced Developer Certification with a digital badge once all other certification requirements are met.

DURATION
This exam allows 2 hours and 20 minutes for answering exam questions.

SOLUTION DEVELOPMENT PROCESS AND CONSIDERATIONS - 19%
Teradata's solution development process and considerations including types and purposes of indexes, partitioning strategies, logical and physical database design, roles, profiles, and privileges, and statistics. 

ACCESS LAYER AND DATA DELIVERY STRATEGIES - 12%
Access layer and data delivery strategies. 

SOLUTION OPTIMIZATION - 14%
Solution optimization including the tuning process including improving an existing application, designing and populating effective performance testing environments, MAPS, and identifying performance tuning considerations.

TRANSACTION PROCESSING AND LOCK MANAGEMENT - 10%
Teradata's transaction processing and lock management including types of locking and lock levels, implications of using different transaction modes, differences between transaction, request, and statement, and impact of session characteristics on requests. 

DATA INTEGRATION STRATEGIES - 12%
Data integration strategies including MLOADX, optimal load strategies, and data integration into temporal and columnar tables.

ADVANCED SQL CONCEPTS - 33%
Advanced SQL concepts including syntax, usage, and characteristics of macros, stored procedures, permanent tables, table level attributes, CREATE TABLE AS, Referential Integrity, indexes, views, triggers,  temporary tables, regular expressions, functions, usage and characteristics of column level attributes, data types, constraints, joins, subqueries, syntax usage and characteristics of ALTER TABLE, SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, and MERGE statements.
