Presentation Abstract:
The primary purpose of this business-oriented presentation is to provide information that will allow attendees to maximize the value of their business intelligence resources. We will discuss the appropriate use of real-time information processing, the benefits of data mart consolidation, and the value of integrated information, highlighting as a case study the Enterprise Service Quality Index (ESQI) project. Throughout its history, FedEx has meticulously tracked key operating metrics to assess performance and accurately direct continuous improvement efforts. ESQI provides a calibrated assessment of FedEx’s service delivery from a customer-centric perspective, based on 80+ customer touch point metrics across all business areas, with all of the reporting and analysis executed against the FedEx Enterprise Data Warehouse.

Speaker Bio:
Dr. Cooper is a Technical Fellow in the Enterprise Architecture organization at FedEx Services. He has been involved in the FedEx Enterprise Data Warehouse project since its inception more than fifteen years ago, with more than ten years on Teradata. His contributions include the original design and implementation of its data acquisition methodology, as well as the project, technical, and architectural leadership of several large, corporate projects. Today, he is primarily responsible for corporate data architecture and the technical direction of the Enterprise Data Warehouse. Mark also holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence.
